Q. I have submitted my application now what? A. On the second Thursday of each month the committee meets and we process the applications at that time. We will send you an email from [email protected] account with the decision and any additional information. Please add this email address to your safe sender list or check your junk or spam folders.
Q. I want to take a course in June, should I apply now? A. Yes, apply as soon as you know you want to take a course.
Q. I want to go to a conference during the work day but it is less than 4 weeks, can you wave the 4 weeks? A. If you are leaving the school during the work day to attend a conference we are not able to wave the 4 weeks as we need to have you released from the school. This is a Board requirement and is not something that we can overrule.
Q. I work in Guidance, Coop or Student Success, do I need release time? A. Yes, you require release time if you want to attend a conference during your regular scheduled day.
Q. I want to go to a conference on the weekend or at night but it is less than 4weeks, what can I do? A. Submit your application, we will process it at the next meeting. However, be aware that you may not know before the conference if you will be approved.
Q. I have submitted my reimbursement now what? A. Please be patient while the TBU Treasurer processes the claims. Currently there is a delay so please be patient.
Q. How long will it take to get money back? A. There is a delay currently right now. They are working on getting this timeline shorter, please be patient.
Q. Can I still apply for funding for a membership (excluding memberships that I need to teach e.g. OCT)? A. Yes, you can apply up to $750 for a membership that you wish to join. Please note it must be a voluntary membership not one that is required for your teaching position.
Q. Last year (2023-2024) we could apply more than one conference or course up to the max amount. Can we still do this? A. No, we are back to just one claim per school year.
Q. How many days do we have for release for the 2024-2025 school year? A. You have one day release time.
